How Much Is A Quad Of Weed?

Arguably one of the most popular terms used when buying marijuana, you’ll often hear the word “quad” thrown around at your local dispensary by both customers and the staff, and it’s even sometimes called a “quarter quad”, and if it’s your first time in a dispensary buying marijuana, then you might be left wondering what exactly a quad actually is, or what it means.

This term actually means something very simple and is just the term used to describe a quarter of an ounce of weed, which is around 7 grams. This is quite a sizable amount of weed and will be able to make you 15 decently sized joints, depending on your rolling ability of course.

This means that it’s a good amount to purchase if you’re looking to purchase some marijuana without having to return to the dispensary for a little while, so long as you don’t get through it too quickly of course!

What Other Names For Measurements Are There?

Aside from quad, there are a whole host of other names for different measurements of weed, all of which you’ll become more accustomed to as you frequent your local dispensary, but if you want to familiarize yourself with these terms before you head to your local dispensary, then we’ve created a list of them here!

Dime Bag

This term is one that originates prior to the legalization of marijuana and was used to describe half a gram of weed (see also “How Many Grams In A Pound Of Weed?“), which would usually cost around $10.

However for most dispensaries, this measurement of weed isn’t big enough to make any real money, so instead, they opt to sell a gram as their smallest amount instead, which is simply known as a gram!

Dub Of Bud

You might be able to work it out from its title, but this term simply means two grams of weed.

This is a good measurement to buy if you’re trying out new strains or are just beginning to smoke marijuana, and it’ll allow you to make 5 – 6 different joints with it!

An Eighth

Similarly to a quad, many of the slang terms used to describe measurements of marijuana are based upon its relation to an ounce.

So when it comes to an eighth, this simply refers to an eighth of an ounce of marijuana, which is around 3.5 grams of weed.

Sometimes this will simply be called a “three five” instead, but this all depends on location.

This is the typical amount that most experienced smokers will smoke in a week, and depending on how you roll, you will easily be able to roll between 7 to 10 joints with this amount.

Ounce

Does this one need explaining? We’ll do it anyway. This term simply refers to an ounce of weed, and is the absolute maximum that someone can legally own at any one time.

An ounce contains 28 grams of weed, and will allow you to roll roughly 100 joints depending on how you roll and is the perfect amount to buy if you’re an experienced smoker looking to only visit their local dispensary on a monthly basis.

How Much Does A Quad Of Weed Cost?

Many people will wonder how much an eighth of weed costs, especially since it will last most regular smokers around a week before they’ll need to buy more.

The cost of a quad ultimately depends on a number of different factors, which includes things such as dispensary, location, quality, and strain.

But quality is probably the largest factor that dictates the price of the weed, so here’s a rough guide on how much you can expect to pay for a quad of weed:

  • For AA grade weed, you can usually expect to pay between $20 – 30 for a quad.
  • For AAA grade weed, expect to pay somewhere between $35 – 50 for a quad.
  • Finally, for AAAA grade weed, you can expect to pay a slight premium, and a quad will cost somewhere between $50 – 70.

This is just a rough estimate of how much you’ll have to pay for a quad of weed at your local dispensary, and if you’re ever unsure about what the quality of the strain you want to buy is, then the staff at your local dispensary should be more than happy to help you understand more about the strain, as well as it’s quality.

They should also be able to guide you to a strain based on what you’re looking for from your joints, as well as what your budget is too.

Summary

To summarize, a quad of weed is simply one of the many slang terms used to refer to a measurement of weed, which roughly equates to 7 grams of marijuana, and depending on your rolling ability, you should be able to achieve 15 joints with this amount.

As you become more familiar with marijuana, you’ll soon learn what each of these terms means, and your local dispensary staff will always be happy to help you!
